Biography

Neeltje was born at Albany (known as New Albany),^[1] New York. Her baptism has not been found in Albany church records; she may have been born before the record book was inaugurated in 1683.

Neeltje Van den Berge was married to Barent Staats in the Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, New York, on 15 December 1701.^[1]

She is buried in Staats Island Cemetery, Schodack, New York. The gravestone is shared with her husband, Barent Staats, and his parents. The inscription reads, in part:^[2]

She is cited in the List of Early Colonials in Albany.^[3]
